Glad to hear that Jeff. I made some changes to my sprint car and I'm anxious to see if it helped any. I hope it's more competitive than it has been the last few races. I'll be running...
17.5 sprint
17.5 touring
12th scale (if enough show up!)

I've setup my 17.5 for the HTU track. I don't think I'll be at the Mar 3rd event.

I've setup my 17.5 for the HTU track. I don't think I'll be at the Mar 3rd event. Hey Scott, the last time I was at the Kota races I just ran the setup I had for the Hobbytown track and it worked pretty good. I am going to try and make it next week. Hoped to get there today but the wife changed her plans to ext week..

You know, bashing a track that I ( and many others) love to race at is a great way to encourage me to come out to the ramkota. If you weren't bashing it, you should be a bit more clear in your post as that is the way it comes across to me.

Meradin, before you get too mad, Brian Cox doesn't race at the Ramkota either.
That said, I have raced many different size tracks over the years and think many of the SF Hobby Town racers would enjoy getting onto a bigger track once in a while.

I have chosen to not race carpet this year and haven't even been on this forum for probably 6 months-but when I read scotts post I started to wonder-why don't the hobby town racers come out and race on a bigger track? A little variety? More speed? I think it's a question that alot of people would like to know the answer too as the entry count has been lower than previous years at RCX and it really doesn't make sense....anyways my original comment wasn't to "bash" As long as you have fun-thats all that matters...after all, none of us will ever get paid to race an rc car!! I agree with Shawn in saying I have probably had some of the most fun racing on small tracks! Alot of guys can remember the small dirt track out behind Ed's hobby shop out in Harrisburg years ago-it was a BLAST!

Let me flip it on ya...Why don't more people come out to the Hobbytown track? There is no weekly setup and a locked in weekly schedule...Your question can go both ways.
For me it is a family issue. When my children get older it may be that I can carve a Sunday out to race but right now Friday nights is my most flexible night. I can't speak for anyone other than me.
I enjoyed the times I was able to come out to the track and race. I was a different experience on the larger track. The traction level was was less so while the HTU track may be smaller, it has traction on its side. The club track is bigger with less traction. Both are challenging and fun. There are many of the fast guys (Grumpy) who raced both tracks for a while and were very successful at both. Not sure how much they changed setup wise but that isn't holding me back. It is the Sunday thing. One little part I didn't like was the little jibes at the HTU track made by many of the club racers. I can see that they are still being made. Comments were made to me about "why would you race there, just a bash-fest, etc..." Once they could tell I was offended in a way and didn't share the same point of view they would quickly hid behind their statements by saying it was just a joke. No it isn't and wasn't intended as a joke. You can't hide behind a statement like that without a bit of it being in your heart otherwise you wouldn't pass it on.
I just didn't care for it. It wasn't like it was enough to keep me from racing at the Ramkota, as I said, it is a schedule thing for me. I just thought it created a separatist atmosphere. Kinda an "us-against-them" vibe that rubbed me the wrong way.
I directed a few of the regulars of the HTU fridays out to the club track as they really love the oval format. Brett is his name so keep an eye out as he is very interested in seeing if a pan car oval class could be established and I know you are receptive to starting a class if their is interest. Three to a class right? I know they all race the VTA class too so there might be interest there if there is room on the schedule.
I hope to get out there sometime this year I spoke with Brad and it looks like you guys are racing for the next few weeks. Hopefully I can get out and pen things up a bit before you are done for the season.

A couple of recent posts have brought up the the idea that you need different setups to run sedan cars at the two different tracks - Ramkota and HTUSA. For what it's worth, when I was running my 17.5 touring car at both tracks I didn't change anything on my car except the amount, and the brand of traction compound I used. I ran the same motor, gearing, tires, shocks, springs, droop, ride height, body, etc., etc.... The reason is that I am basically a pretty lazy person and, the car seemed to be reasonably competitive on both tracks without making any changes. Anyway, my point is.....bring out your cars and give it a try, I know you will have a good time!
