Another good day of racing! I wasn't able to make it out to the track until later in the day. When I got there things were going very well - thanks to everyone that was part of making that happen! The numbers were down a little (compared to the prior week ) but it was still a decent car count - I think I counted 42 entries. We are racing the next two Sundays, and then there is a three week break in the schedule, until January 15th - so let's all get some good racing in during the next two weeks and keep the car counts up!

Looks like the EDMs are becoming the main support classes with 21 entries out of the 42 total car count ;D Its great to see these and the rest of the classes to continue to grow.

It is no secret that I'm a numbers geek, so I did some calculating this morning. Here is a breakdown of average attendance so far this year by class:
B-Mod 11 A-Mod 8 Touring 7.33 Sprints 6 14th Touring 5 Truck 4.67 Novice 4.67
And a breakdown (average) by type of racing: Oval: 25 Road: 17 Novice: 4.67

I've raced these toy race cars since somewhere back in the mid-seventies. It seems like the popularity of different classes kinda comes and goes. Pan cars used to be the big class - 12th scale was very big for a while, touring cars had their day, there were times when the mini sliders, recoils, and mini late models had good numbers, and 10th scale sprint cars had a good showing for a while. It seems like the only thing constant in this hobby is the ever-changing availability of new cars and classes to run. There's no denying that (currently) the largest and most popular class (at our race track) is the EDM class, and I think that's great. But, we all need to keep in mind that all of the classes we currently run at our track are important to this race club and it takes involvement, participation , and cooperation of the racers in all of the classes to keep this club afloat.
Just one grumpy old man's opinion......Jerry

It was great seeing all of the races. I even brought a few extra spectators along. I will be there again for the next set of races and trying to bring some more viewers.
