Do we know if we will be able to have the doors open for the next race (as we did for the first race) or is that next room rented?
It would be nice to know this ahead of time and what the plan is for the carpet layout because the different layout will require some adjustments for oval racers.

And as I see it, we have about 5 different layouts to try, four for when the doors are closed. I've attached the possibilities. What do you all think? Attachments:

All look like good ideas to me. I think we should try them all once or twice...

As coincidemce would have it, just yesterday I asked my contact at the Ramkota to check the schedule and let me know which Sundays on our scedule would have occupants in the main Exhibit Hall next to us. There are five of them.... December 4, January 29, February 26, March 11 and March 18. On our other race dates (five of them) they are ok with us doing what we did last Sunday. I also had her check for any other open dates that we could schedule, including Saturdays. There were six Saturdays open but unfortunately they all fell on the same weekends as the Sundays we already have booked and she would need to at least double the rent! . With regards to the topic of having food avilable for a "donation". I asked about doing that and was told that they have had groups propose that in the past but their Ramkota Corporate office has not allowed it. I tried. Brad and I have been working on some things to help make the next race day run a little more smoothly. One of the biggest things will be to get started promptly at noon. We also have made up some forms that should help speed up the registration process. Please come to the track early enough to get registered and be ready to start racing at, or shortly after, noon.
I hope everyone makes an effort to come and race on the 27th!
Thanks!

Having never been a previous race I am not sure what the food issue is? Did you guys sell food at previous races?
Why wont they allow food for this event? I have been to at least 4 weddings in that very same venue and food was served. I have also been to a few coporate events where there were vendors selling food.
Just wondering what the deal is. Is it a no food at all, like if I came I came I couldn't pack a sandwhich/snack for myself and kids.

Meradin -
Last year we raced at Legend's Basebally training facility in Sioux Falls. To help our club, they allowed our club to have food for the racers and we were able to purchase that for a "suggested donation."
The year before that, the Moose Lodge gave us a break on our rent for the day, with an agreement that we would not bring in outside food or drink, and we would buy that for them.
I guess we were just spoiled over the last couple years to have meals available throughout the race day. I have some great ideas for my own enjoyment, because as it sounds, we can all bring in our own "personal" food.
Typically, places like this have some sort of agreement with a select number of catering services. In that agreement, if a catering business comes in for an event (such as wedding) the venue gets some sort of cut.

I wasn't able to open the suggested track layouts that Shawn posted last night (my computer had some issues) but I was able to look at them today. I agree with Jeff - they all look interesting. We'll probably try several. I guess it will be left up to the people that set up the track each week to determine which layout to use. My personal preference is to lay out the carpet the way we did last week and just sacrifice the area needed for the driver's stand when we can't open up the door. Unless I'm missing something, I think that will only use up about 4-5' ? Anyway, I'm willing to do whatever makes the most sense.
Hope to see everybody Sunday!

Not sure we would have enough boards for the straights if we laid 2 pcs. end to end. This would be about 180 ft long and 24 ft wide. It sure would be fun to try this set up once. Our very own ASCOT!!!
