Thank you to Chris and Lynn for putting on a great race night. All went very well with the new track location and changes involved. It was alot of fun running a bigger track. I so enjoyed joining the EDM 10.5 class and I see another EDM to run the 17.5 class coming to my stable soon ;D(Good thing Sarah don't read this forum...lol) Can't wait for the next race date!

I have to agree, the big track put a new twist into getting my cars to handle. They are close but as always they could be better.
One of the things I noticed (I'm sure I missed more) is that Harv was there and I don't believe he was racing, but was there and was helping marshal without being asked. Harv I haven't met you but thanks for helping.
Couple of weeks off the carpet then back to it, I'm looking forward to try it again.

Chad Harv is a great kid, he was a huge help to me last night corner marshalling for me and helping me in my pit since I was busy with 4 cars. He also busted his butt this summer with us on the offroad track. Glad to have him as part off the club!!!!!! Thanks again Harv

Overall JT and I had a good time(besides the cold just like everyone else). I almost think JT had more fun running around with all of the other kids. At the same time, I was also somewhat disappointed.
I don't think I was the only person/parent who was slightly caught off guard when asked about paying for a "family" membership. I posted a thread asking what the cost of a club membership is on Saturday the 6th. Chris posted a reply on the 7th stating $30 for a membership and a family membership available. Audie then posted 4 minutes later asking how much a family membership would cost. There was no repsonse to his question. So anyway, I don't recall any discussion of a "family" membership last season. Why is there a family membership anyway? If the club needs more funds to pay rent, pay insurance, or pay whatever, then the club as a whole should poney up together to take care of it. Lets not tack on more costs to the guys who are trying to get their kids involved. These kids are going to be the ones who carry the club/sport into the future. Everyone can comprehend that if kids aren't involved, eventually the sport will die off. I don't want that and I doubt the rest of the club wants that. Lastly, on this topic, I wrote my check and it's a done deal. I will do my part to try and help the club be successful in the future. See you all again on December 4th. Thanks, Matt

I would agree that Chris and Lynn need a big thank you from everyone. Also, thank you to all the other people that helped to make the first race a success. There were a few "first race at the new site" bugs that need to be worked out but it sounds like things are in place to make that happen. Once they get worked out it should be a very nice place to race.

Agreed Jared! Seeing new faces and new drivers was great. I hope all the new people had as much fun as I did.
I don't know much about trucks or buggies but it was sure fun watching some of those buggy looking things slide through the corners. Even had me thinking "that would be fun... I should maybe get one of... wait, two cars is enough."
It was great seeing Audie and Aaron both run their first races with an EDM and both looked good! Speaking of EDMs - that new 17.5 class is much more fun than I thought it would be. If you have ever considered entered the oval racing world, I strongly suggest the 17.5 EDM class. ( I also just happen to have a car for sale for that class.)
Thanks everyone for a great first race, thanks Chris, Lynn and Ashley for running the show and preparing food. I know I appreciated being able to get a soda... and the food looked great at a great price (and for a great cause - our club!) Next time I'll eat, I just had one really bad handling car that demanded too much attention from me. Also remember - Legend's has a rule - NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR DRINKS so if you want a drink or some food, you must buy it from the club. It is an agreement in the contract. Breaking that could break our contract, and I know I for one wouldn't want to be the person responsible for leaving the club without a place to race.
And Harv, you help was appreciated.
Thanks everyone, see you all Dec 4 for race number 2 of the exciting RC Extreme Racing Carpet Season!

To Matt and Scott –
Let me start by saying I am not the club president, so the decisions are not mine to make, but I’m sorry, I do disagree with you both on this one.
Each racer *MUST* purchase insurance to race with us.
There are two ways to do this.
The first is to pay an additional $3 each time you race. For our scheduled 12 events, that comes out to $36 for insurance on the season.
The second is to pay a $30 “membership.” That buys your insurance to race for the season. If you race all 12 events, you’ll save $6 through your purchase of the membership.
Family memberships encourage you to bring your children. For $50, you both bought your membership for the season. Then your children’s memberships are discounted. Scott, I don’t know if you bought a membership for both your sons, but without the “family membership” you would have needed to pay $90 for memberships ($30 x 3), or an additional $3 dollars each time you all raced, (assuming you make all 12 races) which would cost you $108 over the course of the season. So actually, for Scott and his two sons, the family membership saves him $58 on the year.
I know sometimes it can be hard to spend money, but the insurance company won’t care if someone was hurt and the driver of the car was 3 years old or 53 years old. Therefore, insurance is a must for every driver.
I also want to give Chris credit. Instead of raising fees, although the cost of our rent has gone up this year, he is trying other ways to offset the addition cost and not pass that along to us drivers. One way of that is by the food stand he set up. For $3 you could have a full meal, with proceeds (after cost of the food) going to the club. Burger King will give $0.00 to our club, nor does Burger King offer a family discount, giving children a free meal because dad ordered a whopper.
I hope this all makes sense to you.
It was great seeing JT turn some good laps with that truck!

Were those 10.5 EDM's running timing/boost on the tekins... or was it turned off? For a spec class, Jodys was wayyyy faster!

I have brought my kid to the races over the summer and here is how I see it. Pit passes for us $25+$25= $50 for 1 night. Sure they remember it, but all they did was follow me around the infield and watch.
The cost for us to have a family membership is $50 for the year of RC racing. The $20 for me to watch him smiling, laughing and having a good time racing win or lose seems cheap at that point.
Just seeing him having fun is well worth the price and probably more. After all I have spent $20 in way worse ways.

I should also add that compared to last year(our first year racing) and the 2008 season( we came to a couple races as spectators at the VFW) it is really nice to have the track and the pits in the same room. I enjoed watching the races while I could monitor my batteries. With the pits surrounding the track, corner marshalling did not seem to be a problem like it was a few times last year. In fact, it appeared that all racers were willing to marshal more than their share just by being so close to the track and being involved in most of the action. As for the mini late models, the larger track results in less crashes. I don't think any of us had to put in a lot of bench time making repairs.
