RC Xtreme Racing 2010: Week 1 Preview
This Saturday marks “the first” on many different angles for the drivers of RC Xtreme Racing.
First, obviously it is the first race of the 2010 season. It is also the first ever racing event at the new Legends Baseball Facility. It is also the first time the club will open a season with a Saturday evening event, and it’s the first time since 2007-2008 season the club will be able to use every inch of carpet for a racing event.
Eight different divisions of racing gives drivers and fans of RC Xtreme racing plenty of diversity for the year. For road racing lovers, a very strong field of touring cars has been compiled, while trucks with no limit on horsepower will showcase mind-blowing speed with finesse on hairpin turns.
For oval fans, six different classes will mimic the stars of local dirt track.
Two classes of sprint cars will take to the speedway, an 18th scale class that has been very popular since the club’s first events in 2007. A new Losi Mini Sprint Car could help bolster car numbers in this class. A tenth scale sprint car class will once again compete, utilizing high-powered 17.5 motors.
For Late Model fans and drivers, there’s an 18th scale late model class that is always competitive and full of excitement.
The trucks also get a go on the oval. A rubber tire short course truck class will burn circles in the carpet with young stars like Gunnar Schettler, Colin Schnell and JT Rock controlling the action.
Again this year, the EDM division (A-Mods) will be the fastest of the carpet oval cars. Chad Schettler will try to defend his championship against competitors like Jerry Driscoll, Jody Rosenboom, and last year’s season opener winner Jared Nytroe. Add is a few more drivers with experience and some new drivers gunning for gold, and this class is definitely going to be something to watch.
Another EDM class (B-Mods) should also be just as exciting with 17.5 motors and stock ESCs. Watch for a nice field of drivers to race door-to-door in this division.
It all begins this Saturday. Will you be just another driver, or do you have what it takes to become a legend?
