I am looking forward to the carpet season with our awesome EDM class. I know some new drivers are looking at this exciting class and I can't wait to burn the carpet again.
That said, that is a 10.5 class.
Would anyone be interested in a 17.5 class? The rules would be identical to the 10.5 class, but would be required to run 17.5 motors.
The reason I suggest identical rules (except motor) is that makes the transition from class to class easiest and cheapest for drivers. This could become similar to full scale B-Modifieds and A-Modifieds.
The downfall is, it could split a nice, big class into two smaller classes. The positives are... it would give someone a chance to get experience with these cars before stepping into the lighting quick 10.5 class, and could eventually provide a nice stepping stone to get to what appears to be our top carpet oval class.
Thoughts?
Also, it appears we'll have a 17.5 sprint class this year, replacing the 10th scale slider division.
Perhaps this 17.5 EDM class could replace the 18th scale open class that was down to 0-2 entries at the end of last season.

The 17.5 EDM class sounds like a good idea Shawn. On the size track we had last year the 10.5s were a handful. Jody proved to all of us that the 17.5 was smoother and more driveable and, on that track, just as fast (or faster). I wouldn't be too worried about splitting the class. From the talk I hear there will be enough to support two classes.
As far as the sprint class goes....I am assuming that we will be making the switch to 17.5 brushless, lipo, foam tire class with the chassis being "open" within reason.
I too am looking forward to the carpet season. Has a date been set for a pre-season meeting? I know there are racers wanting to know about classes etc. so they can start getting equipment together.

I'm in for it. Now the question is what car to turn into a 17.5 car? Anyone have any thoughts on a weight rule or something to slow the Bmods down? As proven last year they will do lap times as quick as a 10.5 car. (Thanks Jody) Or let them go on the motor being the only thing different, it is not a big deal to me I can kill tires slow or fast.
