Well, I was out there last night. By myself for most of the night. Mark did come out later - thanks for your help Mark! Anyway, I got the new battery installed, oil changed and and spark plug cleaned on the tractor. It is running and ready to go. I also cleaned the plug, changed the oil, re-installed the drive chain and got the packer running. It should be ready to go. It does need some further attention to tighten up the drive chain to keep it from running off. I also topped off the oil, cleaned the plugs and got both of the walk-behind lawn mowers running. I really hope we get some people out to the track on Saturday for a work day. If you can come, please bring whatever you can for tools. We need screw guns, drywall screws, saws, sledge hammer, shovels, weed trimmers etc...Upon further inspection last night, there are a lot of things that should be done. Most of it has to do with repair work on the outer wall of the oval. We should also check out the PA, the computer, the detection loop, get the pump mounted and hooked back up, etc to make sure we are ready to race on May 16th. I haven't seen anything "official" on the web-site for a work day schedule yet but I am pretty sure that at the meeting we decided it would be this coming Saturday. I am planning on being out there by about 10:00AM. If we get some people to help it shouldn't take that long.
Thanks,
Grumpy

Work on the track tomorrow (Sat 5/1) will depend on how much rain we get. If it's not raining in the morning I plan to go out to the track around 10:00AM to check it out. If you want to call my cell it's 940-2225

UPDATE - Jeremy Herde and I got a lot of work done today. We repaired several bad spots on the outer wall of the oval, pulled the back straightaway wall in so it's more vertical and added bracing to help keep it that way. Jeremy brought his tiller and tilled the outside 2 feet around the perimeter of the oval and we raked the dirt back away from the wall. We disked up the entire track, drug it a bunch and packed it before we left. I took a couple of links out of the drive chain on the packer but then the dam thing wouldn't start!!! I think the spark plug went bad - already picked up a new one. All the boards also got put back onto the off-road drivers stand. Things are looking pretty good! We plan to be out there again Wednesday night to install the pump and get some water in the big tank. There is also some work we'd like to do on the off-road track like berming up some of the off-camber corners. Please come out to help if you can. Jeremy and I are thinking we could have a test-n-tune night Wednesday (5/12) in preparation form the first race on the 16th.
